Training courses
ALLMI training accreditation refers to the certification and training standards set by the Association of Lorry Loader Manufacturers & Importers (ALLMI) for the lorry loader industry in the UK. The accreditation is recognised by Build UK, approved by CSCS, and formally endorsed by the Health and Safety Executive (HSE). This national standard ensures that individuals in the industry receive the highest quality and most consistent training for safe and efficient operation of lorry loading cranes and associated lifting operations.
CITB training accreditation is a process where training organizations apply to the Construction Industry Training Board – CITB to have their courses and providers recognised for meeting industry standards, allowing for potential funding and ensuring consistency for construction employers. To become accredited, a provider must complete an online application, provide details about their organization and quality assurance, and ensure their courses align with established training standards developed by industry experts.
NPORS training accreditation signifies that a training provider is officially recognized by the National Plant Operators Registration Scheme (NPORS) to deliver training and assessments for plant machinery operation. Accreditation requires organizations to meet specific criteria, ensuring they have the necessary facilities, experienced instructors, and quality control to provide industry-recognized certification and the accompanying NPORS card.
An excavator is a powerful machine designed for heavy duty digging, lifting, and earthmoving tasks. Commonly used in construction, demolition, landscaping, and infrastructure projects, excavators feature a rotating cab, hydraulic arm, and various attachments such as buckets, breakers, and grapples. From trenching and site preparation to material handling and demolition, excavators provide the performance and precision needed for demanding jobs. Available above and below 10 Tonne.
A road roller, is a vital machine used to compact soil, gravel, asphalt, and other materials during construction. Its primary purpose is to create smooth, level surfaces with increased density and stability. Making it essential for road building, foundations, and large scale paving projects. Road rollers come in various types, including single drum, double drum, and pneumatic (Rubber Tyres) models, each designed for specific compaction needs.
A rear tipping dumper is a heavy duty vehicle used to transport and unload materials like soil, sand, rubble, or gravel. Designed with a skip that tips backwards, it allows for quick and efficient unloading at the rear, making it ideal for construction, landscaping, and earthmoving projects. Available in both tracked and wheeled models, these dumpers are built to handle a wide range of terrains.
A telescopic handler is a versatile lifting machine widely used in construction, agriculture, and industrial settings. Equipped with a range of attachments such as forks, buckets, or lifting hooks, telehandlers can handle tasks like loading materials, placing pallets on rooftops, or moving bulky items across rough terrain.
A loading shovel is a versatile piece of heavy machinery used to lift, transport, and load bulk materials such as soil, gravel, sand, and waste. Commonly found on construction sites, in mining operations, and in waste management facilities, loading shovels are essential for maintaining efficient site operations.
A material rehandler is a specialized machine used to move, sort, and manage bulk materials in industrial environments such as recycling centers, waste management facilities, ports, scrap yards, and construction sites. Unlike general-purpose loaders or excavators, material rehandlers are specifically designed for handling loose, bulky, or waste materials with speed, precision, and safety.
A skid steer loader is a compact, highly versatile piece of construction equipment used for a wide range of tasks, including digging, lifting, grading, and material handling. Thanks to its small size and manoeuvrability, it’s ideal for tight spaces and urban worksites where larger machinery can’t operate efficiently. Skid steers are commonly used in construction, landscaping, agriculture, and demolition.
A Vehicle Marshal (also known as a Banksman) plays a critical safety role on sites where vehicles operate in close proximity to people, equipment, and structures. Their primary responsibility is to guide and direct vehicle movements, ensuring safe operations and preventing accidents. Vehicle Marshals are especially important in construction sites, warehouses, logistics hubs, and other busy environments where visibility is limited or space is restricted.

Assessments will take place in a work environment and in accordance with the Construction Skills’ Consolidated Assessment Strategy for Construction and the Built Environment. These will be internally assessed by an appropriately qualified and experienced assessor. The awarding body for this qualification NVQ/QCF in Plant Operations is Pro-Qual Awarding Body and the regulatory body is the Office of Qualifications and Examinations Regulation (Ofqual) and is also endorsed by the sector body for construction – CITB. It has been accredited onto the Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) and is published on Ofqual’s Register of Qualifications. There are no formal entry requirements for this Qualification.
